Discussion on including Tenant farmers in PM-KISAN scheme, Know when the 19th Installment of PM-KISAN may be released

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme was launched by the Prime Minister in February 2019 with the aim of addressing the financial needs of landholding farmers. Under the scheme, farmers are provided financial assistance of ₹6,000 per year, which is transferred directly to their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts in three equal installments through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Using digital technology, this scheme ensures the transparent delivery of benefits to farmers across the country, eliminating the need for middlemen. To date, over ₹3.46 lakh crore has been disbursed in 18 installments since the scheme's inception.

Efforts to Include More Eligible Farmers in the Scheme:

The Government of India is committed to including all eligible yet excluded farmers in the PM-KISAN scheme. Several special campaigns have been launched to achieve this goal:

1. During the campaign launched on November 15, 2023, more than 1 crore eligible farmers were included in the scheme.
2. Another campaign initiated in June 2024 saw over 25 lakh farmers being added within the first 100 days of the new government. As a result, the number of beneficiaries who received the 18th installment increased to 9.58 crore.

New Digital Features of the Scheme: To provide more convenience to farmers, the government has developed the PM-KISAN portal and mobile app, offering features such as self-registration, tracking benefit status, and face-recognition-based e-KYC.

1. The face scan facility introduced in June 2023 helped farmers in remote areas complete their e-KYC.
2. Over 5 lakh Common Service Centres (CSCs) have been onboarded to assist with registrations and other requirements.
3. Kisan-eMitra, an AI chatbot provides instant solutions in local languages ​​in payments, registration and eligibility.
4. A robust grievance redressal system has also been set up on the portal.

When can the 19th installment of PM-KISAN be released?

The PM-Kisan scheme, Rs 6000 is provided to farmers every year, which is distributed in three installments of ₹ 2,000 each. The 18th installment was credited to farmers’ accounts on October 5, 2024. It is expected that the 19th installment will be transferred to farmers' Aadhaar-linked bank accounts via DBT in January or February 2025.
