Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to issue certificates to over 30,000 self-help groups (SHGs) acting as 'Krishi Sakhis' (agricultural friends) and will release ₹20,000 crore to more than 9.26 crore farmers during his visit to Varanasi. This initiative aims to create 3 crore 'Lakhpati Didis' (women millionaires). The program will see participation from 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras, over one lakh primary agricultural cooperative societies, and nearly five lakh common service centers across the country. Krishi Sakhis can earn a good income annually through their skills and training. The central government hopes this initiative will provide employment opportunities for women and make them self-reliant.

Employment Opportunities for Krishi Sakhis:

During their training, Krishi Sakhis will have to pass a proficiency test. Those who pass will be certified as para-extension workers, enabling them to carry out various activities under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare's schemes. On average, a Krishi Sakhi can earn between ₹60,000 to ₹80,000 per year. So far, out of a total of 70,000 SHGs, 34,000 have received training across different states.

PM Modi to Address Farmers in Varanasi:

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi, after taking oath for his third term, will visit Varanasi. He will address the farmers and release the 17th installment of over ₹20,000 crore under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana to the accounts of 9.60 crore farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Training for 90,000 Women Under Krishi Sakhi Yojana: Following his third consecutive term in office, PM Modi will release the 17th installment of the PM-Kisan scheme worth over ₹20,000 crore to 9.26 crore beneficiary farmers. Objectives of the Krishi Sakhi Yojana: In collaboration with the Ministry of Rural Development, the Ministry of Agriculture aims to train 90,000 women from SHGs as para-extension workers under the Krishi Sakhi Yojana. This initiative is designed to assist the farming community and help these women earn additional income. The government is preparing a 100-day plan for the agricultural sector, focusing on the welfare of farmers and the overall development of agriculture across the country.
