The Central Zone Electricity Distribution Company has registered 8,170 consumers under the PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme in the districts of Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Gwalior, and Chambal divisions. Out of these, subsidies amounting to ₹54.62 crore have been directly credited to the bank accounts of 7,014 consumers.

Subsidies for Solar Installations:

Under the PM Suryaghar Scheme, the central government provides financial assistance for setting up solar plants as follows:

  1. ₹30,000 for a 1 kW solar plant.
  2. ₹60,000 for a 2 kW solar plant.
  3. ₹78,000 for a 3 kW or higher (up to 10 kW) solar plant.

Launch and Objective: The scheme was launched on February 13, 2024, with the aim of providing free electricity to millions of households across the country. The Central Zone Electricity Distribution Company is actively facilitating the scheme to benefit consumers.

Application Process and Information Sources:

Consumers can apply for the scheme online at the official PM Suryaghar Scheme website (https://www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in) For more information, they can also visit the company’s website (www.portal.mpcz.in) use the UPAY app, WhatsApp chatbot, or contact the toll-free number 1912.

Important Guidelines: The Managing Director of the Central Zone Electricity Distribution Company, Mr. Kshitij Singhal, reviewed the scheme's progress and issued the following guidelines:

  1. Consumers must install solar plants through authorized vendors registered with the distribution company after completing the online registration process.
  2. Ensure the name on the bank account, Aadhaar card, and electricity bill matches exactly to avoid delays in subsidy disbursement.
  3. From December 1, 2024, only smart meters will be installed for solar systems under the scheme. These meters will be provided at SOR rates, reducing consumer payments by ₹6,000 to ₹8,000.

Strict Measures for Non-Compliance: In cases where rooftop solar plants with net meters, modems, and SIMs fail to establish data communication, notices will be issued to the respective vendors. Failure to resolve the issue may result in strict action against the vendor.
