The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (DAC & FW) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MOA & FW) have initiated an important scheme under the overall guidance and control of the Government of India (GOI).
Notification of insured amount and premium rates: Three levels of compensation, namely 70 percent, 80 percent, and 90 percent of the sum insured, will be available for all crops at high, medium, and low risk levels, respectively. The SLCCCI will approve claims for designated crops at the district or sub-district level based on the advice of insurance companies.
Prevented Sowing (Based on the basis of the designated area): cases where a majority of the insured farmers in the designated area intend to sow/plant and incur expenditure for this purpose but are prevented from sowing/planting insured crops due to adverse conditions, insured crops are prevented from being sown/planted. Will be stopped. Weather conditions, a maximum of 25% of the insured amount will be eligible for claims for prevented planting due to calamities.
Post-Harvest Losses (Based on individual fields): Coverage is available for up to 14 days after harvesting for those crops kept in the field for "cutting and spreading" after harvesting due to specific risks of cyclones/hurricanes. Rainfall, unseasonal rainfall.
Localized disasters (based on individual fields): Local losses affecting different fields in the designated area such as hailstorms, landslides, and floods.
