The winter season has started to make its presence felt in North India, with temperatures dropping and a noticeable chill in the air. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), cold conditions are expected to intensify in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and other northeastern and western regions after November 10.
On November 7, the IMD issued a heavy rainfall alert for Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. In addition, light to moderate rainfall is expected in parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Eastern India. The IMD forecast suggests that these areas could also experience thunderstorms and lightning, with the weather conditions continuing until November 10.
Delhi, the morning and evening temperatures have dropped, and light fog is being observed. According to the IMD, fog and mist are expected to persist in the mornings throughout this week. The maximum temperature is likely to range between 32-33°C, while the minimum temperature will hover around 16-18°C.
Delhi’s air quality continues to deteriorate, with local factors being mainly responsible for the rising pollution levels. A recent study highlighted that in October, Delhi was the most polluted city in India. The Air Quality Index (AQI) has been rated as "very poor," with the AQI recorded at 352 on November 6, showing a slight improvement of 20-30 points from the previous days.
