Earlier, the highest price at which Gupta sold a box (15 kg) of tomatoes was Rs.800. This time the price broke all records, and he sold 15 kg of tomatoes for Rs 1900, increasing the cost of one kg. Tomato prices have become a matter of concern for many in many cities in India, as many big box chains and restaurants such as McDonald's and Burger King have also discontinued tomatoes from their dishes due to rising prices.
