The crop insurance process for Rabi Season 2024-25 under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) has commenced. The government has set December 31, 2024, as the last date for both loanee and non-loanee farmers to insure the notified crops in their respective districts. Farmers can insure crops like wheat, chickpea, lentil, and mustard to avail themselves of the benefits of this scheme.
Premium Rates for Rabi Crops:
The Deputy Director of Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Department provided the following premium rates for notified Rabi crops under PMFBY:
- Irrigated Wheat: ₹540 per hectare
- Chickpea: ₹525 per hectare
- Unirrigated Wheat: ₹330 per hectare
- Lentil: ₹481 per hectare
- Mustard: ₹405 per hectare
Who Can Avail of Crop Insurance?
- Loanee Farmers: Can insure their crops through their respective banks.
- Non-Loanee Farmers: Can voluntarily insure their crops through banks, Common Service Centers (CSC), or authorized representatives of insurance companies.
Required Documents for Crop Insurance:
To apply for crop insurance, farmers need to submit the following:
- Copy of land ownership document
- Sowing certificate issued by a competent authority (Patwari or Gram Panchayat)
- Duly filled application form
- Identity proof (Aadhaar card)
- Copy of bank passbook
- Premium payment
Important Points to Remember:
- Multiple KCC Accounts: Loanee farmers with KCC accounts in multiple banks must inform other bank branches, except one, by submitting a written application at least seven days before the last date for premium deduction.
- Accuracy of Land Details: Farmers must ensure that their bank or committee has recorded correct details of their land, such as tehsil, village name, and Patwari circle number.
