The crop insurance season has started, allowing farmers to insure their Kharif crops and safeguard their income. To maximize the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for farmers, the central government has declared July 1-7, 2024, as Crop Insurance Week.
The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is highly beneficial for farmers. Agriculture is a crucial sector forming the backbone of our economy. Various factors such as natural disasters, irregular weather, and unregulated use of pesticides can significantly impact agricultural production. To address these issues, the Government of India launched the PMFBY in 2016.
Crop Insurance Week commenced on July 1, 2024. During this period, farmers can insure their Kharif crops to secure their income. Under the PMFBY, crop insurance will cover damages caused by natural disasters, risks, pests, and diseases. Farmers will receive financial assistance through insurance coverage. It is urged that farmers join PMFBY during Crop Insurance Week from July 1-7, 2024, to protect their income and safeguard their crops from natural calamities. Let's ensure a bright and secure future for all farmers.
Objective of PMFBY: Ensuring Farmers' Safety: The primary objective of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is to provide comprehensive security to farmers for their crops. This scheme offers complete protection against all natural calamities from pre-sowing to post-harvest stages. The agricultural department provides affordable crop insurance, enabling farmers to compensate for their losses and maintain confidence in their production.
