Food Minister Shri Govind Singh Rajput, during a video conference with Union Food Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi, announced that the online registration for wheat procurement will commence on Monday, January 20. This year, 4,000 procurement centers will be established for wheat procurement, an increase from the 3,800 centers set up last year.

Ensuring Payment for Wheat Procurement:

Union Food Minister Shri Joshi reviewed the preparations for wheat procurement across states. He emphasized spreading awareness about the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and ensuring quick payments to farmers after wheat procurement. He also instructed the quick initiation of the registration process and the assignment of duties to officers responsible for quality control.

Mechanized cleaning of wheat and increase in the amount:

Food Minister Shri Rajput proposed the installation of machines for mechanized cleaning of wheat at procurement centers this year to prevent the purchase of poor-quality wheat. He also discussed the plan to increase the commission amount given to committees. Additionally, Minister Shri Rajput requested the quick disbursement of the pending funds for the second-quarter wheat and rice grants and fortified rice.

Team to Study Wheat Procurement in Uttar Pradesh: Principal Secretary of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Rashmi Arun Shami, informed that a team will be sent to Lucknow to study the ongoing preparations in Uttar Pradesh. The meeting was attended by Food Commissioner Shri Sibi Chakraborty and other officials.
