Weather Alert: Western Disturbance to Bring Heavy Snowfall and Rain, Northern India to See Weather Changes Till March 1

Heavy rain and snowfall due to western disturbance

The Western Himalayan region is expected to experience increased rainfall and snowfall from February 25, continuing until March 2-3. Between February 26 and March 1, some areas may witness heavy to very heavy snowfall and rain.
This weather shift is due to an active western disturbance impacting northern Pakistan and nearby areas. As a result, several Indian states are likely to experience light to heavy rainfall. However, this precipitation may not be sufficient to compensate for the overall rain deficit recorded in February.

Delhi-NCR to Witness Clear Weather with Light Fog:

Delhi is expected to have shallow fog in the morning, but the skies will remain clear throughout the day. The minimum temperature may hover around 12°C, while the maximum could reach 28°C. From Wednesday onwards, the minimum temperature is likely to rise by 2-3°C, reaching around 15°C. Thunderstorms and rain are forecasted for February 29 and March 1.

Temperature Variations Across States:

Several states witnessed fluctuations in temperature. Bihar, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura recorded a drop of 1-4°C, whereas temperatures in Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, and Telangana increased by the same margin. Assam and Meghalaya experienced only minor changes.

Rain and Snowfall Predictions for Northern India: From February 25 to 28, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand may receive light to moderate rainfall and snowfall. Between February 26 and March 1, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh are likely to experience intermittent rain. Western Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan may see rainfall from February 27 to March 1, while eastern Uttar Pradesh could receive showers on February 28 and March 1. Thunderstorms and lightning are expected in several parts of northwestern India during this period.
