The monsoon has officially retreated from most parts of India, including the national capital, Delhi. However, some states are still experiencing rainfall, while others, including Delhi, are grappling with rising temperatures. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a rain alert for various states on October 7. Here’s a comprehensive update on the weather situation across the nation.
Delhi experienced a significant amount of rainfall this monsoon season, but now the city is dealing with high humidity. The maximum temperature remains elevated, making afternoons quite hot, though mornings bring a slight chill. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to reach 36°C today, with the minimum around 25°C. This weather pattern is likely to persist for the next few days.
Parts of Uttar Pradesh, especially those neighboring Delhi, there are chances of thunderstorms accompanied by light rain and lightning. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for several districts, although heat continues to dominate in most areas. The residents are also enduring humid conditions. In the state capital, Lucknow, partial cloud cover and possible thunderstorms are expected over the next two days.
According to Skymet, a private weather forecasting agency, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, southern interior Karnataka, coastal Karnataka, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and parts of northeastern India, with some areas likely to experience heavy showers. Light to moderate rain may also occur in regions like the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, northeastern states, West Bengal, Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh weather, Telangana, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, northern interior Karnataka, and Lakshadweep. Furthermore, light rainfall is expected in regions such as the western Himalayas, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand.
