To strengthen rural development and the agricultural sector in Rajasthan, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has announced the allocation of ₹4.4 lakh crore under Priority Sector Lending (PSL). This funding will be utilized for agricultural infrastructure, rural development, and other essential projects. As per estimates, 47% of the total amount will be dedicated to agriculture and allied activities.
NABARD has released a state-focused financial plan for the fiscal year 2025-26 in Jaipur, detailing Rajasthan’s priority sector lending framework. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) mandates banks to extend loans under priority sector lending to support weaker sections and strengthen the rural economy. In line with this, NABARD has projected a loan distribution of ₹4.4 lakh crore for Rajasthan.
According to NABARD, this loan aims to ensure inclusive and sustainable rural development. The financial report provides a district-wise assessment of loan distribution potential in Rajasthan. The projected loan amount is 22% higher than last year’s estimate, which is expected to boost investments in rural and agricultural sectors.
Increased Investment in Agricultural Infrastructure:
Dr. Rajeev Siwach, NABARD’s Chief General Manager, emphasized that enhancing investments in agricultural infrastructure, improving post-harvest aggregation, value addition, and organizing farmers into Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) can significantly increase agricultural productivity and farmers' income.
Sector-wise Loan Allocation:
Boost to Rural Economy: This NABARD loan will play a crucial role in advancing agriculture, rural development, and social welfare programs in Rajasthan. The financial support will empower farmers, rural entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders, thereby strengthening the state's overall economy.
