The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has announced a registration drive for Indian sellers and service providers participating in the India International Trade Fair (IITF). This initiative is being conducted during the 43rd IITF, held from November 14 to 27, 2024, at the Bharat Mandapam Complex, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The drive aligns with this year’s theme, “Viksit Bharat @2047” and aims to onboard micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), artisans, weavers, and craftsmen into the government procurement ecosystem.

Boosting Artisans on the Online Platform:

In its commitment to fostering inclusive economic growth, GeM is supporting artisans and small businesses under the Government of India’s “One District, One Product” initiative. A professional photo shoot setup has been provided at the GeM pavilion to help sellers upload their product catalogs instantly and free of cost, enabling them to showcase their offerings to a broader audience.

A Gateway to the ₹4 Lakh Crore Government Procurement Market:

GeM representatives will visit individual stalls during the drive to raise awareness about the platform's benefits and encourage its adoption. Sellers will learn how they can directly access the vast government procurement market worth ₹4 lakh crore annually. The 43rd IITF serves as a vibrant platform for showcasing India’s culture, trade, and innovation, offering an unparalleled opportunity for domestic sellers to explore growing business prospects in the public procurement sector via GeM.

Revolutionizing Public Procurement through Digital Platforms:

The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) is an online platform that facilitates the procurement of goods and services by Central/State Ministries, Departments, Organizations, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Panchayats, and Cooperatives. Established in 2016 as part of the Government of India’s vision of “Minimum Government, Maximum Governance”, GeM was designed to eliminate inefficiencies in traditional procurement processes while ensuring transparency and efficiency.

A Paperless, Cashless, and Contactless System: GeM is a fully digitized platform that creates a paperless, cashless, and contactless ecosystem for procurement at all levels of government—Central, State, and Panchayati Raj Institutions. It connects sellers and service providers across India, leveraging the speed and flexibility of digital systems to strengthen public procurement processes. GeM’s transformative efforts aim to deliver positive and lasting changes for all stakeholders involved in the procurement ecosystem.
