Relief from Fog in Delhi, Air quality Concerns Raised Due to Change in Weather

Relief from Fog in Delhi
Relief from Fog in Delhi

There seems to be some relief from the problem of dense fog in Delhi. Currently, there will be light fog this morning, after which the weather will be clear with light clouds. Due to the dense fog and polluted air that Delhi has been facing for some time, it was causing serious problems for the residents and the general public. But at present there is no respite for Delhi from polluted air.

Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana-Chandigarh cold wave conditions:

Despite the improvement, Delhi's air quality index (AQI) remains a matter of concern, standing at 171, indicating unhealthy air quality. This underlines the persistent challenges the city faces in tackling air pollution. Apart from this, dense fog conditions are likely to persist over isolated parts of Assam and Meghalaya and Mizoram and Tripura. The issue has been a recurring challenge, with government data for 2023 showing that more than 3000 flights were canceled due to dense fog conditions. Yesterday, Karnal in Haryana recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 4.2 degrees Celsius, indicating cold wave conditions in isolated parts of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana-Chandigarh.

The change in weather patterns can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and neighboring areas in the lower tropospheric level. Additionally, light to moderate scattered rainfall/snowfall is expected over Arunachal Pradesh, while isolated to scattered rainfall is expected over various other areas.
