The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for various regions in India on June 6. As per the IMD forecast, parts of Uttar Pradesh, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Bihar Weather are likely to experience heatwave conditions. In contrast, areas including Delhi and other northwestern states can expect some relief from the heat due to light to moderate rainfall.
On June 6, Delhi is forecasted to have partly cloudy skies. There is also a possibility of dust storms accompanied by strong winds and very light rain. The minimum temperature in Delhi is expected to be around 30°C, while the maximum temperature may reach up to 42°C, which is 2°C lower than the previous day's temperature.
Relief from Severe Heat in Northwest India
Northwest India, which has been struggling with intense heat, is now experiencing some relief. The national capital, Delhi, and its nearby areas witnessed rainfall on the night of June 5, leading to a slight drop in temperature. Several parts of Delhi and its neighboring districts experienced light to moderate rain and strong winds (30 to 40 km/h). The weather has since become cooler.
Rainfall Expected in These Areas Today: According to the IMD forecast, light to moderate rain and some heavy rainfall are expected on June 6 in northern Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, central Maharashtra, Goa, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and parts of Assam. Additionally, light to moderate showers are likely in Lakshadweep, southern Odisha, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Marathwada, northeastern India, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Ladakh.
