As winter approaches, homes across the country have started bringing out blankets and quilts to combat the season's chill. Dense fog blanketed parts of Haryana (Sirsa) and Uttar Pradesh (Gorakhpur, Bareilly) this morning, while Punjab (Amritsar, Halwara), Rajasthan (Suratgarh), and additional areas in Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow, Varanasi) also saw thick fog. Northern hilly areas, including Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, and Gilgit-Baltistan, experienced light rain.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi is expected to have mostly clear skies today, with mild winds blowing at less than 6 kmph during the morning. Light to moderate mist and fog may appear in some parts of the city, especially in the morning. Winds may pick up to around 10 kmph by the afternoon, and light mist or fog is expected again in the evening. Delhi’s temperature is likely to range between a maximum of 31-33°C and a minimum of 16-17°C.
The country has been grappling with rising air pollution, sparking serious concerns. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Mandideep in Madhya Pradesh recorded the highest AQI at 372, placing it in the ‘very poor’ category. Delhi and Chandigarh followed closely, ranking second and third in poor air quality levels.
With deteriorating air quality in many cities, urgent action is needed to manage the increasing pollution levels. This weather and AQI update is particularly relevant for those in agriculture, fisheries, and rural areas, providing important insights for those assisting local farmers and communities.
