Regions Likely to Experience Heavy Rainfall on 21-22 August:

The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Kerala on August 21st and 22nd. Additionally, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in various regions, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand weather, East Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Konkan-Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat Region, Tamil Nadu, and Coastal Karnataka.

Recent Weather Observations:

On August 20th, parts of Meghalaya experienced heavy to very heavy rainfall, with Cherrapunji recording 12 cm of rain. Significant rainfall was also observed in other parts of Assam and Meghalaya, with Rangia receiving 5 cm, Barapani 3 cm, and Guwahati and Shillong each recording 2 cm. In East Uttar Pradesh, Sultanpur recorded 7 cm of rainfall, while Behraich saw 2 cm, marking the return of heavy rains in several districts after a prolonged dry spell.

Increased Risk of Rainfall and Flooding in Uttarakhand: The ongoing heavy rainfall has heightened the risk of flash floods in Uttarakhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, and Meghalaya on August 21st and 22nd. In Uttarakhand, districts such as Almora, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Champawat, Dehradun, Nainital, Pauri Garhwal, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Tehri Garhwal, and Uttarkashi are on high alert due to the potential risk of flash floods.
