During the Entrepreneurship Development Conference 2025, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu were recognized for the effective implementation of the Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF) scheme. Additionally, Karnataka, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh were honored for successfully managing the Entrepreneurship Program.
To boost milk production, improve livestock breeding, and ensure a steady supply of fodder, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying has launched several initiatives. A key focus of these initiatives is to promote entrepreneurship in the animal husbandry and dairy sectors. Separate schemes have also been introduced to support processing in the dairy, meat, and fodder industries. Two major schemes under this initiative are the Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF) and the National Livestock Mission (NLM).
The Ministry announced that over ₹1000 crore in subsidies have been disbursed under the NLM so far. Additionally, under AHIDF, 362 projects have received interest relief amounting to ₹250 crore. This entrepreneurship initiative was officially designated as the 'Entrepreneurship Development Conference 2025.'
The Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Dairying revealed that the AHIDF scheme provides interest relief for units involved in dairy-meat processing and fodder production. To date, 362 units with an investment of ₹10,357 crore have been approved under this scheme, with ₹248 crore in interest relief granted to these units.
Thousands of Crores Spent on Livestock Breeding
The Ministry highlighted the achievements of the National Livestock Mission (NLM), launched in 2021. Under this scheme the central government covers 50% of the total project cost. These funds are used to enhance the breeding of poultry, sheep, goats, pigs, camels, and other livestock. Additionally, the program focuses on fodder processing and the production of advanced fodder seeds. According to the Ministry, over ₹1000 crore in subsidies has been provided to more than 3,000 units, with a total project cost of ₹2,182 crore. The scheme also offers livestock insurance benefits to farmers.
Banks Honored for Simplified Loan Processes
Union Minister Rajeev Ranjan Singh (Lallan Singh), Minister of State S.P. Singh Baghel, George Kurian, and Maharashtra’s Environment and Climate Change Minister Pankaja Munde attended the conference. They visited entrepreneurs' stalls at the exhibition and recognized several banks, including Canara Bank, State Bank of India, and HDFC Bank, for their simplified loan procedures, which contribute significantly to promoting animal husbandry.
