Snowstorm Alert Himalayan Regions Brace for Heavy Snowfall

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a western disturbance is expected to bring light rain accompanied by heavy snowfall in several regions of the Himalayas starting from the night of February 24. The weather department has indicated that this snowfall is likely to continue until February 27. Good amounts of snowfall have been observed in areas including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and extending up to the Nepal border.
Jammu, several roads were closed after landslides on February 21, prompting Indian Army personnel to conduct rescue operations for stranded travellers and students. Although the situation has now normalized, there are still roadblocks and restrictions on movement in many areas. Additionally, parts of Uttar Pradesh experienced humidity after the rainfall.
The weather forecast for Delhi from February 23 to 28, 2024:
- February 23: Mainly clear skies are predicted with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 8 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 27 degrees Celsius.
- February 24: Clouds are expected with a possibility of light fog. Temperatures will range from a minimum of 9 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 27 degrees Celsius.
- February 25: Cloudy skies are likely with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 10 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 27-28 degrees Celsius.
- February 26: Cloudy skies are expected with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 10 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius.
- February 27: Cloudy skies with a chance of light rain and drizzling are expected. Temperatures will range from a minimum of 12 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius.
- February 28: Mainly clear skies are anticipated with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 10 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius.
