The leadership of the Madhya Pradesh government, several effective measures are being taken to increase farmers' income. The state government is continuously working to empower farmers and transform agriculture into a profitable business.
To promote soybean production, the state has launched Mission Soybean, with the aim of significantly increasing production over the next five years. Additionally, the National Mission on Edible Oils, initiated by the central government, is being effectively implemented in the state. To promote the cultivation of traditional rice crops, agricultural universities in the state, under the National Agricultural Development Scheme, are working on the preservation and development of indigenous rice varieties such as Jeera Shankar, Rajbhog, Vishnubhog, Chinnor, and Kalimooch. Similarly, the preservation and promotion of indigenous wheat varieties, such as Sharbati wheat, are being encouraged.
To support mustard farmers, special Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) are being established, along with the promotion of cooperative oil mills. Mustard procurement centers have been set up in each block of major mustard-producing districts. The government is committed to further increasing mustard production. Additionally, the procurement system for pulses like Arhar, Moong, Urad, and Masoor at Minimum Support Price (MSP) has been strengthened to ensure that farmers receive fair prices for their crops.
Provision of Quality Seeds and Soil Health Cards to Farmers: Under the Seed Village Program, 292,750 farmers have received 80,275 quintals of seeds. Furthermore, through the Soil Health Card scheme, farmers are being encouraged to use fertilizers in a balanced manner and improve soil fertility. So far, 973,250 farmers have been issued Soil Health Cards, enabling them to optimize crop production based on scientific recommendations.
