Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Deora stated that the Madhya Pradesh government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is committed to the holistic development of India and elevating it to the ranks of the world’s leading economies. He highlighted the state government’s preparations for the upcoming Simhastha Mahakumbh in Ujjain, scheduled for 2028, and emphasized the need for special budgetary provisions to enhance development projects and public amenities in the event area. He appealed for dedicated financial assistance from the central government to ensure comprehensive development and efficient public services for Simhastha 2028.
Mr. Deora revealed that under the Special Capital Assistance Scheme, Madhya Pradesh total capital expenditure for the financial year 2022-23 was ₹46,798 crore, which rose by 23% to ₹57,348 crore in 2023-24. For 2024-25, the estimated capital expenditure is expected to reach ₹64,738 crore.
He urged a reevaluation of the funding mechanisms for the National Old Age Pension, Widow Pension, and Disability Pension schemes. Additionally, he appealed for an allocation of ₹8,500 crore for 2024-25 to meet the project requirements. He also called for a revision in the rates determined by the center for expenses related to food grain procurement, including mandi labor charges, transportation, storage, and other related costs.
Financial Support for Rural Development: Recognizing Madhya Pradesh's commendable performance in rural road maintenance, the Swachh Bharat Mission, and the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), Mr. Deora requested a 60:40 financial partnership ratio with the central government.
