Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, this year is being celebrated as "Cow Conservation and Promotion Year" across the state. As part of this initiative, a state-of-the-art Gaushala with a capacity to house 10,000 cows is planned for construction in the Barkhedi Abdullah area of Bhopal. The groundbreaking ceremony will soon be conducted by Chief Minister Dr. Yadav. Spanning approximately 25 acres, this Gaushala will not only provide advanced care facilities for cows but also include a fully-equipped medical ward for their treatment.
The construction of the Gaushala will be undertaken by the Rural Engineering Department at an estimated cost of ₹15 crore. The Municipal Corporation and the Animal Husbandry Department will serve as the nodal agencies for this project, which will receive funding from the Smart City Project and the District Panchayat. Managed by the Municipal Corporation, the Gaushala will be constructed in three phases, with the first phase including facilities for around 2,000 cows.
This advanced Gaushala will be equipped with a conveyor belt system to provide cows with feed, green fodder, and other nutrition. There will also be arrangements for utilizing cow dung and urine to produce various products, along with a plant to manufacture organic fertilizers. A special medical ward will be established to treat injured and sick cows, including those found on the streets.
