Crop loss in Tamil Nadu exceeds 33%, 6 districts declared drought affected Six districts of Tamil Nadu have been declared drought affected. 25 blocks in Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi and Virudhunagar districts have been declared as moderately drought affected. According to the state agriculture department, blocks in which crop loss due to rainfall deficiency exceeds 33 per cent are declared as moderate agricultural drought-affected blocks. Kumar Jayant, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, said that these blocks received inadequate rainfall from October 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022.
