The fourth agriculture road map of Bihar will be unveiled tomorrow; President Draupadi Murmu will launch it in Patna

President Draupadi Murmu will launch Bihar's fourth agricultural roadmap in a ceremony in Patna tomorrow. The new agricultural roadmap, effective from 2023 to 2028, incorporates several new features.  In a conversation with All India Radio News, Agriculture Minister Kumar Sarvjeet stated that through this five-year plan, they aim to promote agriculture while considering the geographical and soil-related attributes of various regions.

He mentioned that this plan is expected to ensure cost-effective farming practices in the state, particularly for crops like rice, wheat, makhana, and others. Kumar Sarvjeet also disclosed plans to establish small-scale storage facilities at the panchayat level to assist farmers in obtaining competitive prices and avoiding distress sales. Additionally, the government intends to set up cold storage facilities for vegetable-producing regions.

The Agriculture Minister mentioned that there are incentive schemes in place for coarse grains such as pearl millet, particularly aimed at regions with low rainfall and arid conditions. These schemes are expected to provide assistance to areas in Gaya, Magadh, and other regions facing similar challenges.  Kumar Sarvjeet highlighted that the roadmap includes specific provisions to support crops suitable for regions with low rainfall, such as promoting pearl millet in Gaya and other areas. He also emphasized the establishment of centers of excellence under this agricultural roadmap, such as the pearl millet excellence center in Gaya, with the goal of advancing scientific farming. Furthermore, the plan includes excellence centers for betel leaves, tea, honey, and other initiatives aimed at increasing farmers' income in the state.
