The Delhi government will carry out the free distribution of bio-decomposers for the disposal of crop residue (parali) in fields spanning more than 5,000 acres this year. A total of 13 teams have been formed for the distribution of bio-decomposers. In essence, the burning of crop residue plays a crucial role in increasing pollution during the cold weather. Therefore, as a precautionary step to prevent the burning of crop residue, the Delhi Agriculture Department has initiated the distribution of bio-decomposers in Tigeepur village. So far, 880 farmers have filled out forms to receive these bio-decomposers for disposing of crop residue in their fields.
Delhi's Development Minister Gopal Rai has mentioned that in all fields of Basmati and non-Basmati rice within Delhi, the government will provide free distribution of bio-decomposers. Rai also noted that the Delhi government has prepared a 15-point Winter Action Plan to address the issue of rising pollution during the cold weather, and burning crop residue contributes to this problem. Therefore, the government has taken a timely step to address this issue, similar to the previous year, by initiating the free distribution of bio-decomposers for disposing of crop residue in fields.
Only a few parts of Delhi are involved in rice cultivation, and last year, the free distribution of bio-decomposers was carried out to prevent pollution caused by burning crop residue. This had a very positive outcome, as it facilitated the decomposition of crop residue and improved soil fertility. Farmers also face the challenge of a shorter time gap between rice harvesting and wheat sowing. Rai emphasized that the government is actively involved in this work at an early stage to address this issue promptly. He directed agriculture department officials to promptly initiate the distribution of bio-decomposers in the fields of those farmers who have filled out forms. So far, 880 farmers have filled out forms for receiving bio-decomposers.
