Alert issued for increasing heat in Delhi

The influence of a western disturbance over North India has brought temporary relief from the scorching heat in Delhi-NCR and several other states over the past few days. However, this weather system is now weakening. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the intensity of sunlight and rising temperatures may trouble residents once again from April 16 onwards. Here's a detailed look at today’s weather conditions across the country:

Delhi: Partly Cloudy Skies, Rising Temperatures Ahead:

The IMD has predicted partly cloudy skies in Delhi today. Despite this, the heat is expected to intensify, with the maximum temperature likely to reach around 38°C. The minimum temperature is expected to hover around 20°C. On Saturday, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 35.2°C, which was 0.9°C below normal, and a minimum of 19°C, 2°C below normal.

Light Rain Likely in Many North Indian States:

States like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and Uttarakhand may continue to see partly cloudy skies and light rainfall at a few locations. The IMD has indicated the possibility of thunder and light showers, which could temporarily bring down the temperatures.

Weather Shift in Madhya Pradesh Brings Respite:

Moisture from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal has triggered a shift in weather conditions in Madhya Pradesh. Light rainfall and even hailstorms were reported in districts such as Dhar and Indore on Saturday. As a result, temperatures dropped significantly. Bhopal recorded a maximum temperature of 37.8°C, Indore 36.8°C, and Jabalpur 37.6°C. However, the IMD has issued a heatwave alert in the state from April 16 onwards.

Heatwave Alert in Delhi After April 16: No significant changes in weather are expected in Delhi-NCR and other parts of North India for the next three days. However, a heatwave is likely to develop post-April 16. This shift is linked to a weakening western disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and a cyclonic circulation over Madhya Pradesh and northern Chhattisgarh, stretching from Bengal to Telangana.

Cool Showers Bring Relief in Uttar Pradesh: Light showers and gusty winds brought much-needed relief to residents across Uttar Pradesh. Several regions experienced a sudden shift in weather, causing a drop in temperatures and a temporary break from the intense heat. According to the IMD, while conditions are currently stable, further changes may occur in the coming days. The current weather is favorable for both farmers and the general public, with cooler temperatures providing noticeable comfort during the day and evening.
