Several schemes are being implemented to provide irrigation facilities to farmers. Under these schemes, farmers are provided funding for the construction of various irrigation resources, ranging from agricultural machinery to individual water wells. In this regard, the Bihar government is providing substantial funding for the construction of irrigation wells on private and community lands so that farmers can provide water to their crops on time.
It should be noted that the Bihar government has invited applications for well construction on private and community lands under the Land and Water Conservation Program for the year 2023-24. The application process for the scheme began on September 25th. Farmers can apply online and avail the benefits of the scheme until October 25, 2023.
Under the scheme, funding will be provided for the construction of irrigation wells with a diameter of 10 feet and a depth of 30 feet on private lands and a diameter of 15 feet and a depth of 30 feet on community lands. Beneficiaries of privately owned irrigation wells will receive 80% funding for the construction cost, while 100% funding will be provided for the construction of irrigation wells on community lands.
