The cold wave has tightened its grip over Uttar Pradesh, with temperatures plummeting across various districts. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), several areas, including Bulandshahr, Bijnor, Moradabad, and Amroha, are under a cold wave alert as of Saturday. Over the past few nights, a significant drop in temperatures has been recorded, leaving residents shivering in the biting cold.
The state capital, Lucknow, is experiencing a sharp dip in temperatures. On Friday night, the mercury dropped close to a record low of 5 degrees Celsius. On Saturday, Lucknow is likely to witness a minimum temperature of around 7 degrees Celsius, while the maximum could rise to 24 degrees Celsius. Despite the likelihood of sunlight during the day, icy winds are expected to persist, making the cold more pronounced.
The IMD has forecast cold wave conditions in districts like Meerut, Ghaziabad weather, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Hapur, and Gautam Buddha Nagar. In addition, Ayodhya, Rampur, Barabanki, Bareilly, and Amethi, along with nearby areas, are also under cold wave alerts.
Dense Fog Alert Until December 19: The weather department has also issued a warning for dense fog and severe cold wave conditions until December 19. The combination of icy winds and fog is expected to intensify the chill in the coming week. Residents are advised to take precautions to stay warm and safe during this period. With no immediate relief in sight, the people of Uttar Pradesh must brace for freezing temperatures and challenging weather conditions in the days ahead.
