The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is consistently working to improve the condition of farmers and make them financially independent. This effort includes introducing new technologies and ensuring the availability of fertilizers to farmers. One crucial element in farming is neem-coated urea, and there's good news for farmers in this regard. The Uttar Pradesh government will continue to provide 45-kilogram bags of neem-coated urea to farmers at a subsidized rate. According to information provided by Anil Kumar Pathak, the Joint Agriculture Director (Fertilizer) in Uttar Pradesh, the Agriculture Department will make neem-coated urea available to farmers at a rate of 266.50 rupees per bag, just like before. This fertilizer will be readily accessible in sufficient quantities for sale in both the private and cooperative sectors.

Beneficial for Crops:

Farmers primarily use neem-coated urea as a fertilizer for various crops based on soil testing for nitrogen elements. As per media reports, Nitrogen Control Order 1985 has already notified sulfur-coated urea, similar to neem-coated urea. However, it was not readily available for sale to farmers. Soon, the government of India will make sulfur-coated urea available in the market under the name 'Urea Gold.' Urea Gold will contain 37% nitrogen and 17% sulfur. This will be especially beneficial for oilseed crops like sesame and soybeans, which require sulfur for better production. The use of Urea Gold will ensure that crops receive both nitrogen and sulfur elements, enhancing their productivity.

Significant for Soil Health:

Sulfur-coated urea, like neem-coated urea, plays a crucial role in improving soil health, maximizing the benefits of essential nutrients, and ensuring better crop yields. Urea Gold was launched last year to address the sulfur deficiency in the soil. Its use enhances the efficient utilization of nitrogen by plants and reduces urea consumption. This fertilizer is produced by Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (RCF).

Why Urea Gold is Special: According to experts, sulfur-coated urea releases nitrogen slowly. The presence of humic acid in Urea Gold extends its shelf life. It is considered a better alternative to conventional urea. According to information, 15 kilograms of Urea Gold will provide benefits equivalent to 20 kilograms of traditional urea. Neem-coated urea reduces agricultural costs, leading to increased income for farmers.
