The Uttar Pradesh government presented the state budget for 2024-25 on Monday. During this period, the Yogi government of the state made significant announcements for the agriculture sector, as well as for dairy production and animal husbandry. The government expressed its commitment to implement crucial schemes for farmers in the coming times. Additionally, an announcement was made to establish veterinary colleges in two cities, paving the way for development in the agriculture sector and prosperity for farmers. Improvement in Dairy Production Sector:

  1. A provision of ₹106.95 crores has been proposed for the strengthening and revitalization of dairy cooperatives.
  2. For the Nand Baba Dairy Mission scheme, an allocation of ₹74.21 crores has been proposed, which is 21% higher than the current year.
  3. Under the Uttar Pradesh Dairy Production Incentive Policy 2022, an allocation of ₹25 crores has been proposed to encourage units of the dairy industry established in the state.
  4. For the construction of a new dairy plant with a capacity of 30,000 liters per day (expandable to 100,000 liters per day) in Mathura district, ₹23 crores have been allocated.
  5. Establishment of Animal Medical Colleges in Gorakhpur and Bhadohi:
  6. To address the issues of cow protection and shelter for destitute/abandoned cattle, 303 large cow protection centers are operational in all districts of the state.
  7. There are approximately 7,239 cattle shelters in the state, where a total of 1,438,000 cattle have been protected in urban and rural areas.
  8. A provision of ₹195.94 crores has been proposed for the Animal Disease Control Plan, which is approximately 68% higher than the current year.
  9. For the establishment of veterinary colleges in Gorakhpur and Bhadohi districts, ₹100 crores have been proposed.
  10. Risk Management and Livestock Insurance Scheme: A provision of ₹78.55 crores has been proposed for the Risk Management and Livestock Insurance Scheme, nearly three times higher than the current year.
