Following the conclusion of the Lok Sabha elections, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials during a review meeting on Thursday to ensure the pending payments for the new sugarcane crushing season 2023-24. For a long time, farmers have been demanding an increase in sugarcane prices. The Yogi government has responded by increasing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for sugarcane by ₹20 per quintal. Currently, out of 120 sugar mills in the state, 105 are making payments for sugarcane. CM Yogi also instructed that payments should be made only to those with good records.

Increase in MSP for Sugarcane by ₹20 per Quintal:

Farmers had been demanding an increase in sugarcane prices for quite some time. The Yogi government has now increased the MSP for sugarcane by ₹20 per quintal. Addressing farmers in Chandpur, Bijnor, CM Yogi mentioned that earlier, farmers did not receive payments for up to 10 years, forcing them to borrow money at high interest rates from moneylenders. However, today, 105 out of 120 sugar mills in the state are making payments for sugarcane.

Per Quintal Increase in Sugarcane Prices:

Before the Lok Sabha elections, there is good news for sugarcane farmers. The prices for sugarcane in the crushing season 2023-24 have been increased.
