Uttar Pradesh weather update: rising heatwave triggers alert, government issues safety measures

The summer heat has intensified in Uttar Pradesh as April begins with scorching temperatures. The rising heat and continuous increase in temperature are making life difficult for people. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature may rise by up to 5°C in the next five days. In Lucknow, the maximum temperature was recorded at 36.7°C, while the minimum was 16.4°C.

Weather Forecast for the Coming Days:

On April 1 and 2, the weather will remain dry, increasing the impact of the heat. There is no prediction of strong winds or rainfall during this period. On April 3, western and eastern parts of the state will also experience hot and dry conditions. The weather will remain clear on April 4 and 5, with no expected drop in temperature. Experts suggest that from April to June, several regions in northern and central India may experience more heatwaves than usual.

Rising Temperatures Across Districts:

Many districts in Uttar Pradesh are witnessing a rapid rise in temperature. The highest temperature was recorded in Ghazipur at 38°C, while the minimum temperature in Lakhimpur Kheri reached 21°C. Districts like Kanpur Rural, Barabanki, Varanasi weather, Fatehpur, and Basti recorded temperatures between 18-20°C. Meanwhile, Agra, Hamirpur, Meerut, and Sultanpur saw maximum temperatures ranging between 35-37°C.

Government Preparedness for Heatwave: Considering the extreme heat and possible heatwave conditions, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed all departments to stay alert and take necessary measures. The government is focusing on raising public awareness about heatwave precautions through various campaigns. Alerts about severe weather conditions will be sent to the public via the ‘Sachet’ app and the Integrated Early Warning Portal.
The Uttar Pradesh government has declared heatwaves as a state-level disaster. A special action plan has been prepared for all districts, with separate management strategies for major cities like Lucknow, Agra, and Jhansi.
