On July 23, 2024 Raghuvanshi, who hails from the village of Tadiya in Varanasi district, received a surprising call from a scientist at the Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research (IIWBR) in Karnal. IIWBR is one of the several centers of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The scientist informed him that a team of wheat breeders wanted to visit him. The team arrived at his village on Thursday to see his farming methods and the wheat varieties he had developed. This visit not only acknowledges Raghuvanshi's contributions to Indian agriculture but also serves as an inspiration to other farmers.
In his letter to the Prime Minister, the farmer expressed his wish for his developed varieties to reach farmers across the country so they can benefit from them. He requested the government to take note of this and promote the widespread use of these varieties.
Raghuvanshi believes that if these varieties receive government recognition and are distributed nationwide, it could bring significant improvements to India's agricultural sector. He has appealed to the Prime Minister to take necessary steps in this direction to ensure maximum benefits for Indian farmers.
