The country is witnessing continuous weather changes as the monsoon approaches, while the heat remains at its peak. The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast for the next five days, highlighting both heavy rainfall and severe heatwave conditions.
Today, there is a possibility of extremely heavy rainfall in some areas of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Mahe. Coastal and south interior Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Assam, and Meghalaya may also experience moderate to heavy rain. Thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds are expected in West Bengal, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Konkan, and Goa. Fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into the sea near Kerala, Lakshadweep, Maldives, the Comorin area, the Gulf of Mannar, and the Sri Lankan coast.
On the other hand, severe heatwave conditions are likely in many parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh-Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. The heatwave will also affect parts of West and East Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh weather, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Gujarat.
