According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall is likely in isolated areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on January 14. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also expected over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Kerala, and Mahe.
Dense to very dense fog conditions are predicted in parts of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh during the night and early morning hours. Similar foggy conditions are likely in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Rajasthan, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
Cold day conditions are expected in isolated pockets of Haryana and Chandigarh on January 14. Himachal Pradesh may experience cold wave conditions, and ground frost is likely in some parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Dense to very dense fog is expected to persist in Punjab and Haryana-Chandigarh on January 14 and 15, and in Uttar Pradesh until January 15. Foggy conditions will also affect West Rajasthan on January 14-15 and 17-18, and East Rajasthan on January 14, 16, 17, and 18. Bihar will see dense fog until January 14, while Uttarakhand will experience it until January 15. Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh are likely to remain foggy from January 16-20.
Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, along with Odisha, will experience fog until January 15, while Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are likely to see foggy conditions until January 16.
