Heatwave Returns to Delhi and Other Regions
New Delhi: The heatwave has made a comeback in the nation's capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for Delhi, effective until June 16. Along with Delhi, several other regions including Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Punjab, and parts of Haryana are also experiencing a resurgence of heatwave conditions. Additionally, parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh may face similar heatwave conditions. While the monsoon has started progressing at its usual pace across the country, several northern states remain gripped by extreme heat.
Today, June 11, Delhi is expected to experience clear weather with strong, dusty winds and a likelihood of heatwave conditions. The maximum temperature is anticipated to reach around 44°C, while the minimum could hover around 30°C. The IMD has predicted intense heat and heatwave conditions in Delhi until June 16, with daytime temperatures possibly soaring to 45°C or higher, and nighttime temperatures staying around 31°C.
According to weather forecasts, the next 24 hours could bring heavy rainfall to Goa, South Central Maharashtra weather, Marathwada, Telangana, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala, Lakshadweep, and Karnataka. Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Northeast India, Sikkim, as well as parts of southwestern Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
