Weather Update: Heatwave Alert in Northwest India, Rain Likely in South and Northeast

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of a possible heatwave in several parts of northwest India over the next six days. States like Delhi, southern Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, western Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and western Madhya Pradesh are expected to experience intense heat. The maximum temperature in these areas may rise 2 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal. In Delhi, the temperature could touch 42°C on April 6 and 7, creating heatwave conditions.

Delhi to Face Rising Temperatures and Heatwave Conditions:

Delhi, temperatures are already climbing. On the previous day, the city recorded a maximum of 38.4°C and a minimum of 18.8°C. Today, it is expected to reach 39°C. From tomorrow onwards, the temperature may rise above 40°C and stay high for nearly six days, leading to heatwave-like conditions.

Changing Weather in Central and Southern India:

Parts of central and southern India have seen a shift in weather patterns. Areas in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh experienced strong winds and rainfall. Some regions, particularly in Maharashtra and Telangana, also reported hailstorms.

Rain Expected in Southern and Northeastern States: According to the IMD, light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is expected in parts of south India, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and northeast India till April 6. Wind speeds may reach 40 to 50 km/h in some areas. On April 5, heavy rain is likely in Maharashtra, Assam, and Meghalaya, while Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may see heavy showers on April 6.
