Today, June 16, various regions of India are expected to witness significant weather changes. According to the Meteorological Department, light rain is likely in southwest Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, parts of southern Gujarat, southeastern Rajasthan, northern Chhattisgarh, Rayalaseema, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning, hail, and squally winds reaching speeds of 50-60 kmph are likely in different parts of western Madhya Pradesh. Eastern Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, and interior Karnataka may experience lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph.
Today, Meghalaya is particularly expected to see heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated places experiencing extremely heavy falls. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Assam are also likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas. In addition, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Marathwada, and Telangana may also see heavy rainfall in isolated places. Vidarbha, eastern Rajasthan, Odisha, and Telangana are likely to experience lightning and gusty winds with speeds reaching 30-40 kmph. Additionally, lightning activity is expected in Jharkhand, Konkan & Goa, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Gujarat.
Heatwave conditions, ranging from moderate to severe, are likely to continue in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Bihar, and Jharkhand. Parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Jammu division, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh may also experience intense heat and heatwave conditions.
During the night, warm conditions are expected in parts of Uttar Pradesh, with isolated pockets in Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and eastern Madhya Pradesh experiencing similar weather. Additionally, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha are likely to see hot and humid conditions.
