Weather Update: Light Chill in Parts of India as Rain Continues in Southern States

A light chill is being felt across various regions of India, while the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that rain will continue in southern states today. Heavy rainfall is expected in several areas of peninsular India over the next four to five days.

Today, light to moderate rain is anticipated in several districts of Jharkhand, and parts of Odisha may also experience rainfall on October 22-23. According to the weather forecast for October 18, heavy rain could occur today in Tamil Nadu and southern interior Karnataka.

The low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal has weakened, leading to a decrease in rainfall activities in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. It is expected that over the next 2 to 3 days, cold weather will begin to be felt in parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, with a significant drop in temperature expected in Madhya Pradesh from October 20 and in Jharkhand from October 21.

Recent Rainfall Patterns :

In the past 24 hours, moderate to heavy rain has been reported in southern Andhra Pradesh and northern Tamil Nadu. Additionally, heavy to moderate rain has been recorded in parts of Kerala, southern interior Karnataka, coastal Karnataka, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Light to moderate rainfall has also been observed in West Bengal, coastal Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Goa, Gujarat, and southeastern Madhya Pradesh.
