In the next five days, diverse weather systems are set to influence regions across India, bringing a mix of rain, snow, and fog. The East Equatorial Indian Ocean sees a cyclonic circulation, while another system affects Southeast and adjoining East central Arabian, extending a trough to south Gujarat. Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, and Lakshadweep are forecasted to experience light to moderate rainfall, with isolated heavy rainfall expected over Kerala and Lakshadweep on January 9th. Furthermore, south Tamil Nadu may encounter isolated very heavy rainfall on the same day. Simultaneously, a Western Disturbance over Haryana and its surroundings, accompanied by a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies, will bring light isolated rainfall/snowfall to Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on January 9th. Additionally, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat are anticipated to witness light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning on January 9th and 10th.

Dense Fog Warning:

The meteorological report also issues warnings for dense fog in various regions, particularly in isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, north Rajasthan, north Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura during specific periods.

Cold wave warning: Cold day to severe cold day conditions is expected to persist in some parts of Haryana and Punjab, along with isolated pockets in West Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on January 9th. This is likely to transform into cold day conditions in isolated pockets on January 10th and decrease thereafter. The temperature forecast indicates a minimal change in East and Central India in the next 24 to 48 hours, with subsequent falls by 2-4°C over the following three days. Despite these variations, no cold wave conditions are expected across the country in the next five days, except for ground frost conditions in Uttarakhand from January 10th to 12th.
