Roses are among the most important and cherished flowers in the world. In India, the optimal time for planting roses is mid-October.
For rose cultivation, soil that is rich in organic matter and has good drainage is ideal. Sandy loam soil is particularly suitable.
The pH level of the soil should be between 6 and 7.5.
To prepare the soil, till and plow it to make it soft. Prepare the beds 4-6 weeks before planting.
For bed preparation, incorporate 2 tons of compost and 2 kilograms of super phosphate. Level the beds to ensure uniformity.
For planting roses, dig holes 30 cm in diameter and 30 cm deep, and space the plants 75 cm apart.
Roses can be planted directly or by using seedlings. Planting roses in beds usually yields higher profits.
Advanced rose varieties include Rajhans, Jawahar, Ganga White, Mrigalini Pink, Montezuma, Charles Malarin Dark Red, and the Delhi White, Pearl varieties of climbing roses.
