Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the SVAMITVA (Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) scheme will empower villages and the underprivileged, making India's journey toward development smoother. Over the past five years, 1.5 crore rural citizens across the country have been granted property ownership certificates (Property Cards). Today, more than 65 lakh beneficiaries have received their property cards, bringing the total to over 2.25 crore rural residents who now possess legal ownership documents for their homes.

Property Rights for Rural Residents Under SVAMITVA Scheme:

Prime Minister Modi emphasized that the SVAMITVA scheme has successfully addressed a major challenge through digital mapping surveys using drone technology. The scheme has surveyed more than half of the country’s six lakh villages, granting over 2.25 crore property cards to rural citizens. This initiative is expected to boost India's economy, unlocking economic activities worth over ₹100 lakh crore.

Strengthening the Vision of Gram Swaraj:

The Prime Minister stated that SVAMITVA is a crucial step towards realizing Mahatma Gandhi's vision of Gram Swaraj (village self-governance). By granting legal property rights to rural citizens, the scheme strengthens Panchayati Raj institutions, making them more financially independent. Additionally, it will enhance disaster management efforts and ensure timely insurance claim settlements for rural residents. The development of villages is essential for national progress, and initiatives like SVAMITVA and Bhu-Aadhaar (Land Records Digitization) are laying the foundation for rural economic growth.

The Role of Women in Nation-Building: PM Modi highlighted that women play a pivotal role in India's development. Initiatives such as Bank Sakhi, Insurance Sakhi, Lakhpati Didi, and Drone Didi are proving to be milestones in women empowerment. Currently, over 1.25 crore women have become Lakhpati Didis. In many states, property ownership certificates under the SVAMITVA scheme now include the names of wives. Similarly, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), house registries are being issued in the names of women, ensuring their financial security and independence.
