Wheat procurement under the Rabi marketing season 2024–25 is in full swing across Madhya Pradesh. According to Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Shri Govind Singh Rajput, over 10.25 lakh metric tonnes of wheat have already been purchased from 1,25,631 farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). The state government is ensuring quick and transparent payments, and as of now, ₹1,794.82 crore has been transferred directly to the farmers' bank accounts. This prompt payment system is helping farmers manage their expenses during the harvesting season, ensuring their hard work is rewarded without delays.
This year, the MSP for wheat has been set at ₹2,425 per quintal, and the government is offering an additional bonus of ₹175 per quintal, making the effective price ₹2,600 per quintal. This combined rate is a welcome move for farmers, especially at a time when input costs like seeds, fertilizers, and diesel are rising.
Districts like Ujjain, Sehore, Dewas, Shajapur, Indore, Bhopal, Rajgarh, Dhar, and Vidisha are leading in procurement numbers. This reflects the state’s strong commitment to buying directly from farmers and supporting agricultural livelihoods.
Farmers Still Have Time to Register: To make sure no farmer is left out, the government has extended the registration deadline till April 9. So far, over 15 lakh farmers have registered to sell their produce at MSP. This helps them avoid distress sales and stay safe from middlemen.
A Strong Step for Farmer Welfare: The state government’s proactive approach in procurement, payment, and support is building trust among farmers. Those who haven't registered yet are encouraged to do so soon and take full advantage of this initiative.
