The Ministry of Labour and Employment is conducting a capacity-building program focused on “Social Security Schemes, Labour Codes, and the BOCW-MIS Portal” to ensure the welfare of unorganized workers. The program is aimed at training Labour Welfare Commissioners of the Ministry to effectively implement these schemes and ensure their widespread reach.
Ms. Sumita Dawra, Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, inaugurated the two-day capacity-building program on 21st and 22nd October 2024 at the VV Giri National Labour Institute (VVGNLI) in Noida. The program has brought together 30 Welfare Commissioners, Deputy Welfare Commissioners, Assistant Welfare Commissioners, and Welfare Administrators from various regions. The initiative aims to enhance the understanding and skills of these key officials who play a pivotal role in improving the welfare of unorganized workers.
In her inaugural address, Secretary Dawra emphasized the vital role these officers play in safeguarding the interests of workers in the unorganized sector. She stressed the need for the effective implementation of welfare schemes through coordinated efforts with state, district, and local administrations. Additionally, she highlighted the importance of promoting compliance with labour laws to create a worker-friendly environment that also fosters investment and employment generation.
